"In/Action: Contro lo Scacciatempo, la Noia" serves as the title for a group exhibition of artists curated by Lisa Andreani, Matteo Binci, Gloria Nossa, and Milena Zanetti. Their project was selected through the "Just Image" call and two workshops, led by Elio Grazioli and Maurizio Guerri, specifically aimed at collectives, artists, and curators, with curation by Michela Eremita. This exhibition is the culmination of the 2017 selection and forms part of the Toscanaincontemporanea2018 program, sponsored by the Tuscany Region.
"In/Action: Against the Time Chaser, Boredom" emerged as the critical and curatorial response to the workshop's theme, "We still use microscopes as clubs. Media between exhaustion and aesthetic chance," proposed by Maurizio Guerri, professor of Contemporary History and Social Communication at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Through this response, the exhibition delves into the timeless imaginative flow that seamlessly traverses between Fluxus art practices and the works of six contemporary artists. It creates a visual platform for critical inquiry into boredom and its relationship with technology.
The exhibition showcased the works of Benni Bosetto, Matteo Cremonesi, Aideen Doran, Mauro Folci, Dario Maglionico, Rustan Söderling, as well as notable figures such as John Cage, Dick Higgins, Jackson Mac Low, La Monte Young, and Nam June Paik. The venue for this exhibition was Santa Maria della Scala.
